As part of our Patient Care Team, Dr. Robert Gessman uses a combination of minimally-invasive pain management procedures to relieve debilitating pain and allow patients to resume their normal activities or participate in a physical therapy program to correct posture and structural abnormalities. Our physicians specialize in treating chronic and acute back, neck, and joint pain resulting from many causes, including sports injuries, auto accidents, spinal disorders, and workplace injuries.

Back Pain Specialist: Rob Gessman, MD
Dr. Rob Gessman is a board-certified anesthesiologist who completed a fellowship in pain management at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey where he also attended anesthesiology residency. Before settling at Cooper University Hospital, he spent a year doing a general surgery internship at the University of Hawaii in Oahu. During his time at The Commonwealth Medical College (now Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine), Dr. Gessman earned his wilderness EMT certification and channeled his passion for adventure and the outdoors by cofounding the school’s Wilderness Medical Society.
Dr. Gessman’s interest in holistic approaches for pain has led him to publish a journal article and textbook chapter on natural and herbal treatments for pain. In his free time, he enjoys adventure traveling, hiking, camping, scuba diving, snowboarding, and surfing.
